Sydney Bladers - Whats On

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SKATE:

City Skate is one of the most popular Roller Blading Events in Sydney. There is no organising body and it has become a weekly tradition where bladers meet in the city and skate to various places as a group. There are usually between 6 and 60 bladers who join the skate. From recreational, freestyle, speed skaters to street skaters, there is a good mix of great people.

The different types of skates we have are:
First Wed of the month is Virgin Skate. This is not a beginners skate but is for those who can skate and would like to join us on a City Skate. It is a more sedate skate along flatter terrain.

Each Wed Skate gets progressively harder until the last Wed of the Month which is Mission Skate where we skate to places often not been to before and look for bigger & steeper hills (if you are not sure you can keep up for these make sure you have your bus fare in your pocket).

We may travel up to 15 km however and sometimes top it off with a drink at a pub. Everyone is welcome to join us and we will make you welcome. We strongly suggest you wear protective gear including a helmet and that you are a confident skater able to stop on hills. Also, bring a smile........it is all about fun.

WHERE IS IT?

City Skate meets every Wednesday (weather permitting) at:
The steps of the Land Titles Office (The intersection of Art Gallery Rd. St Mary's Rd. and Prince Albert Rd. opposite Hyde Park)
We meet at about 8.45pm or so and leave at around 9.00pm.
The skate usually lasts about 2.5 hours.

VIRGIN SKATE: (Held first Wednesday of the month)

Virgin Skate is a great way to take your skating to the next step and meet some great people.

Bring your own skates and protection - knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards (and a helmet is STRONGLY recommended). The skate takes a gentle pace around the city. The skate lasts around two and a half hours, and you must be 18 or older to participate.

You must be confident at skating hills, stopping and turning. If you are new to rollerblading, consider taking lessons from a certified instructor, keep practicing and consider coming along to the Friday Night Sydney Skate.

Virgin Skate is the First Wednesday of every month.

Disclaimer

Sydney Bladers is not run by any one, no one owns it, no one is responsible for it, this web site is designed to help this sorry bunch of bladers who meet up every Wednesday night for a great time, no meeting times are planed by anyone, it is just a freak coincidence that up to 70 people meet up at the same place and time every Wednesday night and head off on the same direction some where around the city for 2 hours.

Naomi Grigg - 'Introduction to Freestyle' Course

The Introduction to Freestyle course has reached more parts of the globe than CocaCola. Slight exaggeration, however it has been a massive success of fun and frolics wherever it has visited. 6 hours of intensive work, split over 2 days, it promises to leave you both mentally and physically exhausted, yet craving more. Well, craving a good drink anyway.

The course itself is designed to give you a significant headstart into learning freestyle, along with a clear path forwards in how to improve after the course, however the main benefits of the course reach much farther than learning how to freestyle. The course will develop keyskills which will improve all aspects of your skating, be it skating forwards in a straight line, maneuvrability, balance… the list goes on. and on…

Naomi shall be back to run her course in 2008. For further details or to register your interest in this course please email che.taylor@gmail.com.
